Subhash Ghai’s ‘KHALNAYAK’ to be a part of Fantastic Fest 2016!

Subhash Ghai directed and produced 1993 super-hit film ‘Khalnayak’ is chosen to be one of the movies that would be showcased at the Fantastic Film Festival held at Austin, Texas . The fest will go on from 22nd -29th September, which is being held to celebrate Indian cinema of the past and today. The fest is all about going into the world of virtual reality with the introduction of Dark Corner VR, and the organizers are taking a trip to South Asia with a programming theme that celebrates Indian cinema of the past and of today.

Khalnayak, which means ‘Villain’ in English, is a 1993 Bollywood action thriller. The story centers on the escape and attempted capture of a terrorist criminal Ballu (Sanjay Dutt) by Inspector Ram (Jackie Shroff) and his girlfriend officer Ganga (Madhuri Dixit). Ballu is an unrepentant gangster who has dedicated his life to the celebration of villainy. He is a bad, bad man and not ashamed one bit. However, with the help of his mother and a sympathetic cop, Ballu will rise above his circumstances to gain satisfying redemption.

Box office India declared the film a "Blockbuster" at the box office and it was ranked as the 17th highest grossing Hindi film of all time, in the ‘May 2013 celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema’ edition of filmfare magazine. The film has a lot of famous songs that are still sung today, out of which "Nayak Nahin Khalnayak hu main" and "Choli Ke Peeche" have achieved classic status amongst Indian film lovers.
